A twelve-year-old boy was supported with an amount of $7,500 by the Foundation to undergo eye surgery in Nigeria. He had problems of bilateral congenital cataracts and left retinal detachment and consequently lost sight in his right eye. He required vitrectomy surgery with the aid of silicon oil to fix the retina and improve his vision so that he would not go totally blind. Since Ghana had no vitrectomy machines, it became necessary to send the boy and his mother to Nigeria for him to undergo the surgery.
