The Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation in collaboration with the Entrance University hospital set out to educate and sensitize traders and drivers at the Nima Market and donated to the vulnerable persons on the streets.

The Midwife, Mad Emelia Anokwah from Entrance University Hospital, sensitized the populace about preventive measures to take whiles dealing with people on daily basis.  She indicated that stigmatization of person infected with the virus should be avoided since it creates other health issues to them such as mentally related illness.

The Nurse showcased the best way to wear nose mask and to avoid touching their faces without washing their hands well with soap under running water. In addition, the Administrative Assistant Mad Dora of the Entrance University hospital, educated them on how to keep the reusable nose mask clean to avoid contracting the disease. After a very insightful sensitization on Covid 19, opportunities were given to the people in the market to ask questions. A woman asked “if a person has the virus and is cured, does it mean that the virus is still in the individual.” The nurse replied, “Once a person has tested positive for the virus and recovers, it implies that the individual no longer has the virus in their system but if the person avoids taking the necessary precautions he or she would contact the virus again.” Another Driver was given the opportunity to ask a question, he inquired that “should partners (husband and wife) observe social distancing in public since they do everything together? The Nurse advised him that “it is needful to observe the social distancing at public places especially when boarding a vehicle since the probability of contacting the virus can be contacted from your spouse also”.

The team later donated Nose masks and Liquid soap to the elderly and vulnerable on the streets of Nima market to Masalachi. They showed appreciation for the items received. Education was given to them on how to use their nose masks and consequences of not putting it on.

The leadership of GPRTU and market women were very grateful and called for regular education and sensitization on Covid-19 and its relative effects at Nima market and its environs to help reduce the spread of the disease.
