Samuel AmoTobbin Foundation is a subsidiary member of the Tobinco Group of Companies. It operates as an NGO and also manages the Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) interventions of all the Tobinco Group of Companies. The Foundation among other things supports various vulnerable groups including widows, orphans, the aged, and people living with disabilities as well as those with strange medical conditions who cannot bear the cost of their diseases. The Foundation generally works in the area of Education, Health, Livelihood and Economic Empowerment and Social Safety.

Each year the United Nation (UN) celebrates International Day for Older Persons1st October to acknowledge Older Persons achievements throughout history and across nations in areas of social, economic, cultural and political achievements and by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse.
It is also a day to appreciate the contributions older people make to society. The observance is also a focus of ageing organizations and the United Nations Programme on Ageing.

The theme for this year’s celebration was “CELEBRATING OLDER HUMAN RIGHTS CHAMPIONS.”
Activities for the event include Health Screening, Dance and Fitness and talk on FORGIVENESS.

The medical team for the event included, Entrance University Hospitals and University of Ghana medical team whiles F & G wellness engaged participants on fitness session. Opanyin Kwame Damoah Agyemang of Aging Ghanaian Graphic shared some thought on unforgiveness. He said. “There is something that a doctor or even God cannot do for a person – FORGIVING”.

He explained his statement by saying that as older persons, they should learn how to forgive because not forgiving our fellow human-being can make one sick and can lead to hell.He encouraged them by saying “the right time for older persons to forgive is now”.
Two older persons shared their experience about life. They advised older persons to enjoy life as older peoples, avoid too much stress, and take their health seriously at this stage.

They admonished each other to forgive as the greatest sin in unforgiveness and entreated their fellow colleagues not to feel neglected in society but rather enjoy life as older persons.

This year’s celebration was held in a grand style which ended with spiced entertainment as dancing to help rejuvenate their strength and the joy in them.
